Background<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

Climate change places cultural heritage professionals and institutions in front of increasing responsibilities. The growing frequency and intensity of climate-related and human-induced hazards demand new approaches that combine scientific knowledge, digital innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. Understanding how emerging technologies can support\u2014and be effectively integrated with\u2014professional expertise is essential to improving the efficiency and accuracy of documentation, condition assessment and long-term monitoring of cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

ChemiNova is an innovative research project funded by the European Union\u2019s Horizon Europe Framework Programme. It aims to enhance the efficiency and decision-making capacity of heritage professionals through a suite of accessible, free and open-source digital solutions. These tools integrate diverse data sources and support non-invasive, remote, and on-site monitoring of heritage sites, historic buildings, and objects, addressing both structural and chemical damages, with a specific focus on the impacts of climate change and conflict on cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

Within this framework, ICCROM <\/b><\/span>\u2014together with the ChemiNova consortium, composed of European universities, NGOs, cultural institutions, and private-sector partners\u2014 is organizing, the first intensive training programme of the ChemiNova project in Palermo.<\/p>\n

Objectives\u00a0<\/b><\/b><\/h1>\n

The ChemiNova Webinar and Workshop will focus on the monitoring of climate change impacts on cultural heritage, with particular attention to how changing environmental conditions influence deterioration processes over time, from the global to the local scale. The programme is designed to link scientific understanding with practical application. Participants will be introduced to the ChemiNova project and the digital tools developed within it, before engaging in hands-on training and applying these tools in a real-case scenario.<\/p>\n

Who Should Apply?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ChemiNova Workshop is intended for cultural heritage professionals, including conservators and restoration professionals, heritage scientists, researchers, conservation architects, digital documentation specialists, and site and collection managers.<\/p>\n

Applicants with previous experience in condition assessment, an interest in emerging technologies, and a willingness to engage In a collaborative and multidisciplinary work are particularly encouraged to apply<\/a>.<\/p>\n
