3rd DHECA Workshop in Valencia: Innovation in heritage through imaging techniques and the FORTHEM Alliance SDP “ARchive of Time” WebAR, alongside experts from the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu.
The DHECA project continues its journey in specialised training with the hosting of its 3rd Interdisciplinary Workshop. The event, held at the Art Laboratory of the Faculty of Geography and History at the University of Valencia, will bring together local and international experts to explore the frontiers of digital conservation.
A technical foundation for digital conservation
The day will begin at 4:00 pm with a session dedicated to “Documentation and Imaging Techniques”. This technical block will be led by Carmen Cano and Álvaro Solbes, researchers from the University of Valencia and members of the ChemiNova EU Horizon Europe team. Attendees will delve into the latest imaging methodologies applied to cultural heritage—an essential tool for ensuring precision in contemporary documentation projects.
“ARchive of Time”: Travelling to the Middle Ages through WebAR
From 6:30 pm, the workshop will take on an international dimension with the presentation of “ARchive of Time”, an award-winning project from the FORTHEM Alliance Student Driven Programme. This session will analyse how the use of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technologies can increase public engagement with history.
To conclude, there will be an interactive demo where participants can use their own mobile devices to scan QR codes placed around the room, experiencing first-hand WebAR technology applied to the Council Tower of Sibiu and its defensive system.
