ChemiNova Summer School 2026
The ChemiNova Summer School 2026 is an interdisciplinary training programme designed to provide participants with practical and theoretical knowledge on innovative technologies for the monitoring, assessment, and conservation of cultural heritage affected by climate change and armed conflicts.
Taking place from 9 to 12 June 2026, the programme combines online learning with an in-person practical session hosted at the ImViA Lab of Université Bourgogne Europe (UBE), France.
Programme Format

Three online sessions featuring lectures, demonstrations, and expert-led discussions.

One on-site practical training day focused on RTI methodologies and remote monitoring tools for heritage conservation.
Throughout the programme, participants will learn from some of Europe’s leading experts in cultural heritage conservation, scientific research, and digital innovation.
Main Objectives

Introduce innovative remote methods for monitoring the preservation state of cultural heritage materials.

Familiarise participants with digital tools developed within the ChemiNova project, including ChemiPortal.

Provide practical training in condition reporting and damage assessment methodologies.

Foster interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration between students, researchers, heritage professionals, and project partners.
Participants will also have the opportunity to attend live demonstrations of ChemiNova’s ChemiTools, including ChemiPortal, showcasing innovative digital solutions for cultural heritage monitoring and conservation.
Green Cluster Session
The final day of the programme will also feature presentations by the Green Cluster sister projects collaborating with ChemiNova:

These projects will present their latest technological innovations and research approaches for the safeguarding of cultural heritage impacted by climate change and armed conflicts.
Participation
The Summer School is entirely free of charge.

Online participation: unlimited capacity.

On-site participation in Burgundy: limited to 12 selected participants.
Please note that travel and accommodation costs are not directly covered by the ChemiNova project.
However, thanks to the collaboration with the FORTHEM Alliance, students from FORTHEM partner universities may apply for Erasmus+ mobility funding in order to travel to Burgundy and attend the on-site practical RTI session at ImViA Lab UBE free of charge.
