ChemiTools

ChemiNova is focused on the development of an intelligent computational system for the conservationanalysis, and monitoring of European cultural heritage. This system integrates several key tools to address the challenges faced by cultural assets due to climate change and conflict

ChemiPortal

ChemiPortal is a web application that serves as the main access point to the entire ChemiNova database. Its design and features vary depending on the type of user:

  • For ChemiNova platform administrators: It provides the necessary capabilities for user management and the integration of new tools within the ChemiNova ecosystem. This ensures that the platform can grow and adapt over time.
  • For specialists and collaborators: ChemiPortal integrates essential features for content management and reviewing resources that have been created using any of the other ChemiNova tools (such as ChemiSensing, ChemiInspection, ChemiModel, ChemiSee, ChemiAnalysis, and ChemiAI). It acts as a control and collaboration center for professionals working with the data and analyses generated by the project.

ChemiSensing

ChemiSensing is designed as a collaborative mixed-platform shared space for the inspection and documentation of damage to cultural heritage assets, both on-site and remotely. It will use an Augmented Reality (AR) view with virtual replicas of objects, allowing users to interact with 3D models and data overlaid onto the real environment. It will also facilitate the transmission of video images from local AR devices and aims to combine the shared space visualization of Mixed Reality (MR) with video streams from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). This enables comprehensive and dynamic monitoring and documentation.

ChemiInspection

ChemiInspection is an augmented reality (AR) application designed for mobile devices, aimed at on-site inspectionof heritage objects. It facilitates guided inspections, enabling users to digitize condition reports and establish spatial relationships between virtual information and the real object. Conservation experts can view predetermined defects overlaid on the physical object and add real-time annotations to enriched 3D models (e3D). It is a crucial tool for the preliminary recording of an asset’s condition.

ChemiSee

ChemiSee is a decentralized web platform aimed at a non-expert audience. It seeks to connect the data generated by ChemiNova applications with cultural heritage objects and the communities in which they are found. Its goal is to make the negative impact of climate change and conflicts on cultural heritage tangible, transforming them from abstract facts into concrete and tragic realities. Through immersive experiences, it allows the public to directly explore data and stories about places and objects, encouraging citizen participation in conservation processes.

ChemiAnalysis

ChemiAnalysis is an interactive tool that allows users to create and view annotations made with any other ChemiNova tool. Its main purpose is to support collaboration among cultural heritage conservation professionals by unifying and facilitating access to the generated information and observations. It is mentioned as one of the artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools within the ChemiNova ecosystem.

ChemiAI

ChemiAI is based on machine learning algorithms, specifically deep learning, to predict various types of damagein artifacts, buildings, and monuments from their textured 3D meshes contained in e3D models. This AI technology is designed to automatically characterize chemical and structural damage. Its development aims to provide an easy-to-use method for professionals and the general public, allowing them to infer information using common devices such as mobile phones.

ChemiModel

ChemiModel is a software module responsible for 3D reconstruction of objects from images. Its goal is to generate enriched 3D models (e3D), which not only contain spatial information but also multidimensional representations that include spectral, photometric, semantic, and temporal data. These models serve as a foundation for other ChemiNova tools, such as ChemiInspection and ChemiAI, since they can be enhanced with additional information for more in-depth analysis.
