The testing phase of #ChemiSensing, developed with The testing phase of #ChemiSensing, developed within the Kyiv pilot, set out to answer precisely that.

Conservators and curators from the Santa Sophia Cathedral of Kyiv and the Universitat de València worked together in a structured remote session to validate how the platform performs in real professional scenarios. The goal was clear: to test not only functionality, but collaboration under complex heritage conditions.

Using virtual reality headsets, tablets and desktop computers, the team compared immersive, tactile and conventional navigation modes. This multi-device approach revealed how scientific data and 3D heritage models can be explored, interpreted and discussed collectively — even when participants are geographically distant.

Beyond technical validation, the testing examined synchronous workflows and interdisciplinary decision-making inside a shared digital environment. The result? A deeper understanding of how digital ecosystems can support conservation practice, not replace it.

Would your institution adopt immersive collaboration tools for heritage management?

Could innovation be the key to preserving Europe’s Could innovation be the key to preserving Europe’s cultural legacy? 🏛✨

At ChemiNova, we believe the answer is a bold YES.

We aren’t just looking at history—we’re using the future to protect it. By combining Artificial Intelligence, 3D modeling, and Augmented Reality, our team is creating a “digital shield” for Europe’s most iconic treasures—from the Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna to the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv. 🛡💻

As highlighted in our latest project update, we’re advancing new strategies to monitor, analyze, and prevent damage caused by climate change and conflict—before it’s too late. 🌍⚠️

The best part? This isn’t just for scientists. We’re building tools so anyone with a smartphone can help monitor and protect our shared history through Citizen Science. 📱🤝

Several ChemiNova researchers contributed with presentations:
* Carmen Cano shared insights into how the conservation team at UVEG is developing methodologies for emergency contexts, through the case study “Uso de técnicas avanzadas de imagen en la documentación de obras afectadas por la DANA: un caso de estudio en el proyecto ChemiNova”.
* Alejandra Nieto presented Tecnología y preservación del patrimonio cultural en contextos de emergencia: herramientas y desafíos contemporáneos, el caso de la DANA en Valencia,
demonstrating how ChemiNova’s data acquisition tools were applied to artworks damaged by the DANA floods, and recovered through the “Salvem les fotos” initiative.
* Laya Targa and Esperanza Villuendas, both PhD students on the ChemiNova project, presented their doctoral research and its connection to the project’s broader objectives.
